Café

Saudade is a Portuguese word that doesn’t quite translate. The closest is the ache of missing something you loved — a place, a morning, a feeling. We named the café after it because that is what cafés are for.

We opened in 2022, in a small green house two streets from the beach in Cumbuco. Whitewashed walls, blue shutters, a slow ceiling fan. The bread comes out at six. The espresso runs all day. We close when the sun gets low.

It’s a corner of the northeast — fishermen in the morning, kitesurfers in the afternoon, and the sea always at the end of every street. Pull up a chair.
